    Description of Masterlab BV. :

    Nutreco Holding N.V. is an international group of companies with leading positions in the high-quality animal and fish feed industries. The Group’s main activities are concentrated on the production of compound feed and salmonid fish feed. Together with activities such as the production of premixes and speciality feed, poultry and pig processing, livestock breeding and fish farming, these activities are divided into Nutreco Agriculture and Nutreco Aquaculture. All these activities are supported through an energetic and well-funded research and development programme led with vision and a thorough understanding of the business. R&D funding is mainly directed to a series of dedicated Nutreco research and development facilities operating in close co-operation with the business units. In addition, many joint research projects are conducted with university and independent research institutes who, where appropriate, are contracted by Nutreco to carry out specific assignments. Maasweide laboratory services operates as Nutreco’s Feed to Food laboratory in NW Europe. Microscopy is used for the determination of adulterations and contaminations in raw materials for feedingstuffs and the control of formulation and the presence of animal products in mixed feed. Therefore we use a large collection of reference samples from pure feed ingredients to gain knowledge and to make justified comparisons. The microscopic investigation is carried out with stereo and research microscopes with magnifications 10 to 1000 fold, polarised light , 3 CCD video cameras, frame grabber, PC and software.
